A LITTLE PRINCESS

My love for stories started at an early age. I can't remember when but I know I was a very, very young child when I first picked up a book and turned the pages of the colorful pictures and said to myself I love this!

I start my review of A Little Princess like this because reading this story reminded me of why I love books and how it all got started. This story touched my heart, took me back to stories that made the words jump from the pages and the characters enter into my mind and staying many days, months or years after I was done reading. If you read this book and are not left with a warm glowing feeling I suggest you read it again and perhaps find a little girl to share it with.(less)

SAFE HAVEN

By Nicholas Sparks
p. 340

it was ok

I have to first say that this is not my first N.S. book so you would think I would know what I was getting myself in for. For the most part, I did but still this book hit some new lows in my opinion. I am a romantic at heart and I think most of the people who read his books would say the same but.... come on now! Could any single man living in a small town be this perfect without one of the locals getting their hands on him before a woman from the big city just came along and snapped him right up??? I think not! He is just too perect to believe. So when reading this book you are best to be in a dream state of mind. If that is not enough, turn on any Life Time movie of the week and you will find a husband/cop that some poor young girl has married only to find out that he is really the son of the devil. This story has been told so many times I am surprised that it is making it back to the big screen once again.

Now for the low blow, and this maybe a spoiler so read on if you wish. What in the WORLD was Nicholas Sparks thinking when he wrote the whole "his dead wife was a imaginary friend/ ghost who lived next door to new girlfriend thing???? Talk about needing therapy! That would have sent any sane woman running but this poor girl was so messed up anyway of course she was too much in love to leave. Come on Nick, you can do better then this! Not to judge anyone else but how in the world does this book have so many 5 stars? I gave it 3, did not HATE the book but sure did not LOVE it.

STATISTICAL LOVE

By Jennifer E. Smith
Pages 236
YA
BOOK 3 STARS
COVER 5 STARS

Maybe I was just looking for more from this book or I should have remembered it is a YA book but I found it to be a bit
under whelming. It was not a bad read but it sure was not all that I think it
could have been. Yes, it had some sweet moments but that is just what they were
moments nothing much to look back on. The book was very short in my opinion and
I know that was part of the storyline but just when you got to really know all
the characters the story was over. Nothing memorable here. Wait for paperback,
get from library, or buy it used if you are really thinking of reading it.

PERSUASION

I really enjoyed reading this book. Getting back into the CLASSICS. Jane Austen is a master at writing a love story and she did not disappoint me with this book.
What would you do if you were a young woman who wanted to marry a man that your trusted advisers did not see as a good fit for you? He was not established, had grand ideas of what his life could be but as yet was just starting out. Trying to "make his mark " as it were. Would you listen to your well meaning family and put off the engagement?
Well, that is what Anne Elliot did and lived to regret it!
But, if love is true and strong it can stand the test of time and come back to you richer and deeper than it was when you thought you lost it.
Just as this story has stood the test of time.
"You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own, than when you almost broke it eight years and a half ago."

WITHER

This book wasted no time getting my attention. From the first page I wanted to know who, when, why, and where.
That makes for a great introduction. I read on and was really not disappointed with any part of this book. The main characters are all interesting and the world that the author paints is eerie and beautiful all at the same time.
Rhine the lead character in this story is 16. You might think that is young only in this new-aged world females only live to be 20 and males to 25. If that is not bad enough girls are often kidnapped to become wives for men who want to try and keep their bloodline going as long as they possible.
Rhine along with Jenna and Cecily are three wives to one powerful lonely man. They live like sisters in a mansion where everything is perfect but nothing is real. Rhine wants out before her life runs out first.

GET THEE TO A NUNNERY!
That is what Hamlet says to Ophelia but what a story she has to tell before she does so. Lisa Klein
takes the Ophelia you may have read about in Shakespeare's play and breathes new life into her in this story.
I really enjoyed this new Ophelia her passion for life and her love for Hamlet unfolds in this book in a way that makes you want to keep reading until you turn the last page. I must say, that Shakespeare is one of my all-time favorite writers so this book was my cup of tea for sure but even if you have not read the play I think you will have no trouble enjoying this book. If fact for some people who find it hard to understand Shakespeare this book might be just the place for you to start.
Ophelia is smart, honest and cleaver someone you will be cheering for till the end.
This is the first book I have read by Lisa Klein and her first book published. I will be reading more from her for sure.

I have to say, when I started reading this book I was not sure If I was really going to like it. I had already read THE HUNGER GAMES and really enjoyed that book. This book was said to be better than THE HUNGER GAMES. Big shoes to fill for sure.

So the question is, did it live up to the hype?

YES IT DID!

for me anyway. Now let me say I don't take anything away from The Hunger Games because that was a really good book. No doubt. But I did like this one more and here is why.

Mainly it was because of the characters I loved reading about the main character in this book Saba. I loved her relationship with Jack and it was just so much more fun to read. So enjoyable to read about how her feelings for him changed. Also, the story in general had soooo many twist and turns, highs and lows. It really did hold me on every page. This book maybe made into a movie and I can't wait to see if it does and go see it.

The second book will be out in October so I already know a Birthday gift I will be wanting.
